Thanks, Robn…
Oh, just have to say, “Thanks” to my friend Robn, for hooking me up with an extended loan of a Mac G4. It’s only a 466mhz model, but I’m digging Mac OS X. Thanks, bro…

Update
Not much to say this week… Got the new alternator installed. The car is much more zippy than it used to be. Guess the alternator was going out on me for awhile.
For those who have been hiding under a rock, Windows 98SE sucks. Gotta get some more RAM for this machine so I can run XP again. Or, I could just throw it in the lake and buy an Intel Mac Mini.
:::poof:::
Happy Friday the 13th…
Ahhh,another weekend, and another project or four. The alternator died in my car this week, so I get to yank it out, have it rebuilt, and reinstall. Turns out, that I have to remove the front wheel and inner splashguard to get to it, though. Ah well, it could be worse, I suppose.
I’ve been revamping the laptop tonight. Ditched XP, and installed 98SE on it. It’s an older machine, and the 128 megs of RAM just wasn’t enough for XP to function well. It’s amazingly zippy with 98SE, given that it’s running a Celeron 800.
I see that Apple announced the Intel Macs at Macworld this month. Looks like the Powerbook and iMacs were the first to get “Intelled,” with the Mini to follow shortly. I’ll be aquiring one of them ASAP. Anyone care to purchase my used PC? lol. Makes a great room heater and noise maker.

For Sale: Coldplay music collection
Apparently, Virgin Records is listening to Sony and is looking to put some hardcore copy protection on their audio discs. Some say that the record industry will implode in the next few years. Is this the beginning of the end?

People never cease to amaze me. Just got an email from a friend telling me that his car was broken into a few days ago and the bastards stole his audio equipment and some CD’s. I hate thieves with a passion. Unfortunately, the police aren’t able to devote any resources to catching thieves like this, so there’s no deterent to would-be crooks. No punishment? Great, I think I’ll break the law.
On a less negative note, I got to catch up on some favorite podcasts over the holidays. Always like hearing TWiT and Diggnation (though I can’t think of the link right now.)
One of the more recent “Inside the Net’s” had an interview with one of the developers of Flock, an open source web browser based on Firefox that has integrated access to blogs and Flickr. Just started playing with it this week, so I can’t say much about it other than it IS buggy (.5pre release) but it appears to be very cool.
Anxiously awaiting MacWorld – I don’t currently own a Mac, but I’ll be picking up a Mac Mini once the Intel Macs are released. Think Secret is speculating that Apple will announce a consumer Intel Mac and is betting on the iBooks. I’m hoping that it’s the Mini. I’m tired of the bohemoth, fan-whirring PC on my desk.
