You Won’t Care About This…

Question:

Lots to ramble about this week, so here goes.

I was talking with a female friend of mine this week and she mentioned that she has recently come back into contact with someone she used to date. She’s married, but things aren’t exactly perfect. So, she wonders, is it alright to vent to this guy in confidence. He lives 12+ hours away, so there’s no chance of anything becoming physical. Besides, she’s not that type of person anyway. So, it’s got me wondering… is it okay to use an “ex” as a sounding block? The problem I see with it, and I mentioned it to her, is that because of the intimacy that you once shared with this person, I would think it would be easy for old feelings to come back to the surface. On the other hand, there WAS a reason that they broke up in the first place.

Interesing. Any thoughts?

So, I had this wierd dream last night… Most of the girls that I dated for any length of time were in it, and they were constantly treating me like shit. My wife, however, was not in the dream. I have no clue what this means, as I haven’t thought of most of my ex’s in a LONG, LONG time.

Since I’ve started my new job, I’ve been able to do some recreational reading again. Read a psycho-thriller by Koontz that scared the hell out of me – like, couldn’t fall asleep because I was so freaked out. I haven’t had that happen in years, but apparently, my mind still gets the better of me.

I was reminded today of one of my favorite skits from recent SNL episodes… It came from the show where Ben Stiller hosted, and they spoofed Jeopardy. Fave lines: (Sean Connery) “Suck it, Trebeck!” and (Sean Connery: “I’ll take ‘The Rapist” for five hundred, Alex.” (Ben Stiller: “That’s THERAPIST!”

The new receiver…

Dubbly Digital

Well, finally got a replacement for the ancient Kenwood 6040 receiver that I bought back in 1993. So long ProLogic, hello Dolby Digital. Picked up a Sony 5.1 receiver from Alienmeatsack this week. So, now, I’m only like 5 years behind the technology powercurve.

Watched The 40-Year-Old Virgin last night with Robn and the missus. Laughed my ass off. Even the missus thought it was funny, which, I didn’t expect. The sound was mediocre at best – basically, Robn brought the receiver over and we just hooked it up to my equipment and changed a few settings. Printed out the 56 page manual via a PDF file (c’mon Sony, can’t you post a decent copy of the manual on your site? This one looks like crap!) and gave it a quick once over while watching the movie. Reset the receiver to the default settings tonight after work, and then began tweaking from there. Loaded “Saving Private Ryan” into the DVD player and was amazed, even without a sub or the rear channel speakers hooked up. The sound seperation was amazing – especially during the Omaha Beach scene. Can’t wait to get the rear speakers hooked up.

This receiver should hold me over until I purchase the new TV. Something HD and large. I figure, at that time, I’ll pick up a 6.1 or 7.1 receiver to go with it and move the current analog TV and the 5.1 receiver into the bedroom or office. I wonder if they have pr0n encoded in 5.1?

Found out some potentially good news this week. I may have an opportunity to work some overtime at work on Saturday’s. That should help the TV savings account along nicely. :) Will have to follow up on that one.

Oh, before I forget, I’d like to give a fully extended middle finger to the driver of a newer white Toyota Camry, license plate ZIU 944 for driving like a complete asshole and running me into the oncoming lane a few weeks ago while on the way to work. It’s shitheads like you, that cause people like me to have accidents. I’m surprised you weren’t on your cell phone at the time, but apparently you’re naturally COMPELETELY unaware of your surroundings that you feel the need to run people off the road rather than yield to them while YOU are in the lane that comes to an end. Up yours…
